Day 01: Arrive in Chengdu, be met at the airport, transfer to hotel. O/N in Chengdu.
If time permits, visit the Kuanxiangzi (wide lane) and Zhaixiangzi (narrow lane), it used to be home to officials in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and are among the city's cultural heritage sites still intact today. Originally, single-story houses and courtyards featured the specialty of the area. To relive the taste of local life years ago, teahouses and folk arts are readily found in the area while displays of the lifestyle, dialects, food and customs of Chengdu in the past will be reinstated in museums. As an option in the evening(200RMB extra), enjoy a wonderful variety show of “Face changing” and “Flame Spitting - Out” of Sichuan Opera.
Day 02: Chengdu Panda Base and Sanxindui Museum O/N in Chengdu
Visit The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in the morning. It is located in the northern suburb of Chengdu on Futou Hill about 10 km from downtown Chengdu. Giant pandas live in large naturalistic habitats, which help the visitor to understand how these animals live in the wild. The Research Base is one of the important centers in China for the captive conservation of giant pandas. After lunch, we drive 40km to visit Sanxindui Museum, it is situated in the northeastern part of the state-protected Sanxindui ruin by the bank of the Yazi Rive. Two large sacrificial pits were found in 1986 boast the most important archaeological finds on the Sanxindui Ruins for the past half century. The exposure of a large number of spectacular relics created a great sensation, making the Sanxindui site well known to the world.
Day 03: Chengdu - Hailuogou (Moxi County) O/N in Hailuogou
Drive along the express way for 140 km to Ya’an, then drive for 210 km, passing Tiaquan, Erlang Moountain, to Hailuogou (Moxi County in the foot of Mt. Mingya Gonggar). Stay at base No.2. Take a bath in the hot spring. The Hailuogou Valley that lies at the foot of Gongga Mountain is world-famous for the modern glacier in low altitude (the glaciers in the world mostly lay in the region of high altitude). The sparkling modern glacier rushes down from the high and steep valley, spraying millions of water blooms, changing the quite valley into a pure water palace. Ice holes and ice Bridge make people feel like entering into a Crystal Palace.
Day 04: Hailuogou - Kangding O/N in Kangding
Drive to No.3 Base Camp, walk through the virgin forest, get to the Gongga Glacier. Then drive from Luding to Kangding, You will arrive at Kangding - the capital city of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the afternoon. Upon arrive visit Anjue monastery, experience the mysterious Tibetan Buddhism. After dinner, enjoy the hot spring at Erdaoqiao.
Day 05: Mugecuo lake sightseeing O/N in Kangding
The natural scenery region of Mugecuo (also means Wildman Sea in Tibetan), 28km from Kangding City. Overall scenery region consists of Azalea Gorge, Seven color Sea, Fragrant Grass Lawn, Medical Boiling Spring Pool, Wild man Sea, Red sea Grassland, with a place of famous scenery region taking snow mountains, grassland, hot spring ,flying waterfall , high mountain lakes, Tibet customs as one organic whole. It is a biggest one on high mountain in west-Sichuan, with the area of 3.6sq.km and the deep most of 70m, which is situated on the mountain of 3780m. On the west lakeshore there is a lot of jungle of Azalea bushes and on hillside of the east lakeshore, there are bushes & grassy marshland. Many kinds of flowers are in bloom and dark blue in the water of lake during Spring and Summer; the forest on larger &larger turns color and ripples and sparkles on the surface of lake in the season of Autumn; the freezing of lake with ice with the thickness of 1m in the season of severe Winter.
Day 06: Kangding - Mt. Mengding - Chengdu O/N in Chengdu.
Back to Chengdu, visit Mt. Mengding en route. Mt. Mengding is Sacred Mountain of Tea Culture, it is the first mountain en route from the Chengdu Plain to the western Sichuan highland and also the first stopover to ascend the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from the Sichuan Basin. The mountain has long been known as the "Home of Divine Tea" as it abounds in famous tea. A legend has it that Wu Lizhen, initial tea grower of the western Han Dynasty grew tea in the mountain, leaving the earliest record of tea growing in history. Mengding tea was always used as tribute to send to the imperial courts every. The Mt. Mengding has always been a brilliant shining pearl along the ancient southern Silk Road.
Day 07: Chengdu - Mt. Emeishan O/N in the hotel on the foot of Mt. Emeishan
Visit River-Viewing Pavilion Park (Wang Jiang Lou Gong yuan), it has more than 150 kinds of bamboo brought from all over Asia, and the lush bamboo forests provide plenty of shade in the summer. There is a four-story wooden 'river-viewing pavilion' that was built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in memory of Xue Tao, a Tang Dynasty poetess who often wrote about bamboo (thus bamboo is the park's specialty). The pavilion overlooks the Jingjiang River. It is a good place for the local people to drink tea and play Taichi or Chinese Gongfu After lunch drive to Mt. Emeishan, enjoying countryside views of the Chuanxi Plain.on the way, visit Qianfoya (Then thousand Buddha Cave) in Jiajiang county. Continue drive to Mt. Emeishan .Upon arrive, visit Baoguosi temple---the largest temple at the foot of Mt. Emei and Fufusi temple.
Day 08: Mt.Emei Sightseeing O/N in Mt. Emeishan
Set off from the hotel at 7:00am by tour bus to the cable car station, where you will begin your ride to the the highest summit of Mt. Emei, the Golden summit. Have a look around the Golden summit including Huazang temple. After lunch, take the cable car down and take the bus to Wanniansi parking lot which is located halfway up Mt. Emei. Take another cable car to visit Wanniansi temple., return to hotel..
Day 09: Mt.Emei - Leshan Grand Buddha – Zigong or Dazu O/N in Zigong or Dazu
Drive half an hour to Leshan, board a tour boat have a panoramic view of the biggest carved Buddha statue in the world, with 71 meters tall and age of over 900 years. Then continue drive about 3 hours from Leshan to to Zigong. Visit the Dinosaur Museum. Established in the noted site of dinosaur fossils, Dashanpu, it is about 11 kilometers from the center of Zigong City. Together with the American National Dinosaur Park and the Canadian Dinosaur Park, it is one of the world's three largest dinosaur museums. Then visit Zigong Salt-mining Museum. Zigong has a long-standing civilization as well as rich underground resources in China. The city is also called the "Salt Capital" in the past because of its salt resources and production. The museum to show how people make salt in traditional way.
Day 10: Zigong - Dazu - Chongqing O/N in Chongqing
Set off from Zigong in early morning drive to Dazu, visit Dazu Grottoes in the morning. The Dazu Grottoes spread across more than 75 sites in the county, and contain over 50,000 stone sculptures carved from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The two major sites are Beishan (North Hill) and Baodingshan (Baoding Hill). Afterwards, we will drive to Chongqing (117km).
Day 11: Chongqing, Departure
Visit the People's Congress Hall, a giant traditional building with a large square, where plenty of people do morning and evening exercise everyday. Then visit the General Stilwell Museum, a museum to commemorate General Stiwell during The World War Two. Move on to visit the Eling Park, where people can have a bird's view of the whole Chongqing city and get a general idea of the Yangtze River. Then visit the Ciqikou Old Town, an old town with traditional Chongqing style buildings, tea houses and Sichuan Opera houses. Get aboard for your Yangtze cruise.
