Itinerary  

Day 01: Arrive in Chengdu, be met at the airport. Transfer to hotel.  O/N in Chengdu.
If time permits, visit the Kuanxiangzi (wide lane) and Zhaixiangzi (narrow lane), it used to be home to officials in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and are among the city's cultural heritage sites still intact today. Originally, single-story houses and courtyards featured the specialty of the area. To relive the taste of local life years ago, teahouses and folk arts are readily found in the area while displays of the lifestyle, dialects, food and customs of Chengdu in the past will be reinstated in museums.  As an option in the evening(200RMB extra), enjoy a wonderful variety show of “Face changing” and “Flame Spitting - Out” of Sichuan Opera.

 

Day 02: Visit Chengdu Panda Base, Sanxindui Museum  O/N in Chengdu.
Meet in your hotel and drive to Chengdu Panda Base in the morning. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located in the northern suburb of Chengdu on Futou Hill. It is 10 km from downtown Chengdu, and can be reached by the Panda Road. Giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base live in large naturalistic habitats, which help the visitor to understand how these animals live in the wild . It is an excellent recreational area and a highlight of any visit to Chengdu. Many types of bamboo, trees, and flowers thrive at the Research Base.Several species of birds also make their home there. The Research Base is one of the important centers in China for the captive conservation of giant pandas.

After lunch, we drive 40km to visit Sanxingdui Museum.In Sanxing Dui which is 40 kilometers south of Chengdu, two large sacrificial pits were found in 1986 boast the most important archaeological finds on the Sanxing Dui Ruins for the past half century. The exposure of a large number of spectacular relics created a great sensation, making the Sanxing Dui site well known to the world. Amongst the hoards of prize antiquities there are a variety of unique, grotesque bronze works, such as the stately standing figure, the freakish bronze mask and the towering bronze holy tree, which stand out as treasures unparalleled. In addition, the gold wares represented by the gleaming gold sculpture and the jade wares such as the tablets with heavy motifs turn out to be undeniable jewels never seen before. The Sanxingdui Museum is a large-scale modern museum of history situated in the northeastern part of the state-protected Sanxing Dui Ruins by the bank of the Yazi River in Guanghan city. Back to Chengdu

Day 02: Chengdu flight to Jiuzhaigou airport. visit Songpan Old Town,   O/N in Jiuzhaigou.
Take flight (45 minutes) from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou in later afternoon.  Songpan Town  is an old walled town with many Tibetan inhabitants. Most of the city walls are gone but the impressive gates remain. It is located in a high mountain valley at an elevation of 3,000 meters (10,000 feet).

 

 Day 03: One day Jiuzhaigou Sightseeing.  O/N in Jiuzhaigou.
After breakfast, head to the Jiuzhaigou National Park where you will board environmentally friendly buses to sightsee the Park. Visit the Shuzheng and Zezawa Valleys; Pearl Sands and Shuzheng Waterfall; the Tibetan village of Shuzheng, and numerous picturesque lakes including Panda Lake, Long Lake, Rainbow Lake, Tiger Lake and Rhinoceros Lake. Then summon your energy for a Tibetan folk customs show at night, consisting of singing, dancing and other programs. (The entrance fee of 180 RMB is not included in the tour price). 
 

Day 04: Visit Huanglong, fly back to Chengdu, dirve to Mt.Emei   O/N in the hotel on the foot of Emeishan
Drive to visit Huanglong National Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, with beautiful mountains, lush woods, colourful flowers, and crystal clear waters. (Note: If the road is icy , the tour will visit Munigou National Park instead) Then take flight back to Chengdu, drive to Mt.Emei, enjoying countryside views of the Chuanxi Plain.on the way (two hours along expressway).

 

Day 05: Mt.Emei Sightseeing   O/N in the hotel on the foot of Emeishan
Set off from the hotel at 7:00am by tour bus to the cable car station, where you will begin your ride to the the highest summit of Mt. Emei, the Golden summit. Have a look around the Golden summit including Huazang temple. After lunch,Take the cable car down and take the bus to Wanniansi parking lot which is located halfway up Mt. Emei. Take another cable car to visit Wanniansi temple

 

Day 06: Mt.Emei – Leshan - Huanglongxi old town – Chengdu   O/N in Chengdu.
Drive half an hour to Leshan, board a tour boat have a panoramic view of the biggest carved Buddha statue in the world. Then continue drive about 2 hours from Leshan to Huanglongxi old town in the morning. It is 1700 years history and around 30 miles away from Chengdu. For most of local people, Huanglongxi old town could be a place where it will bring them back to their childhood. The aged old trees, old temples and native custom all together can be an amazing to you. At Huanglongxi, despites the latest renovation, some of the old architectures were built in the late of Qing Dynasty, which was the last feudal dynasty in Chinese history. 

 

Day07: Chengdu - Lhasa  O/N in Lhasa  
Fly to the roof of the world, Tibet is truly beyond your imagination. The blue sky, the highest mountain, lake and train, religious people, harmony between people and nature will give you a deep impression. Pickup and transfer to hotel in Lhasa . In order to acclimatize to the high altitude. No program will be arranged for the rest of the day

 

Day08: Lhasa city sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market  O/N in Lhasa 
An extraordinary day of sightseeing shows the spectacular architecture at the world famous Potala Palace. Former home of the Dalai Lama, its massive 1000-room structure towers over this mountain city. The tour is followed by Jokhang Temple . Then visit famous Barkhor Market, where you can shop for rare Tibetan items.

 

Day09: Lhasa - Yangbacheng Hot spring - Namutso lake - Lhasa  O/N in Lhasa 
Drive to Yangbacheng Hot spring 92km north of Lhasa, view the Northern Tibet grassland and NyanchengTanggula Snow Mountain on the way. Continue to Namutso lake, one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, called “Heavenly lake”. Taking photo, yak riding lakeside, then back to Lhasa.

 

Day10: Lhasa – Yamdrok tso - Gyantse.  O/N in Gyantse
Yamdrok tso(4441m), one of Tibet's three holy lakes, is located 110km outside of Lhasa. It's mostly mountain road, winding and bumpy, even thrilling somewhat. After about 3 1/2 hours' driving, climbing over the snow pass of Kambala(5030m), the dazzling Yamdroktso just lies several hundred meters below the road, and in clear weather is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. Far in the distance is the huge massif of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang(7191m).After down from the mountain, there's about 30km road along lakeside, with barley fields on the other side of the road. A nice walk by the lakeside can be a great joy. Leaving Yamdroktso is as spectacular as arriving, since you'll cross the 5045m Karola, with its awesome roadside views of the Nojin Kangtsang Glacier. With the Glacier scene still exciting you, after about 90km, you get to Gyantse. There stands the 35m-high famous Kumbum, packed with exquisite Tibetan sculpture and paintings, a stunning architectural wonder in Tibet.

 

Day11: Gyantse – Shigatse - Lhasa.  O/N in Lhasa 
Just 4km to Gyantse, there's the Pala Farmland which used to belong to the slave-owner family of Pala. The well-kept Farmland can bring the family's luxurious life back to your eyes. This site deserves a quick visit of 30 minutes. Then you can leave the small town of Gyantse. With Gyantse just fades away from your sight, Shigatse becomes clearer cause it's just 1 1/2 hours' driving (98km). Miles away from Shigatse, you can already see the gold tops of Tashilhunpo shinning under the sun. While Tashilhunpo's magnificent outside leaves you gasp in admiration, the inside of this monastery introduces you more religious tranquility and sincerity. Just close Tashilhunpo is the Old Town of Shigatse, a great place to wander around: Nicely decorated Tibetan houses and interesting market and bazaar give you a vivid picture of local people's life. Drive back Lhasa.

 
Day12: Lhasa - Shangri La   O/N in Shangri La
Airport drop off to Lhasa airport, flights to Shangri La 
Sightseeing: the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the Bita Lake & Shudu Lake, the Old Town of Shangri La and the Guishan Park.
Special Experience: Taste the butter oil and Tibetan food, Tibetan home-made.
In the morning, you'll visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. And afterwards you'll go and visit the tranquil Bita Lake & Shudu Lake. After having finished touring the Bita Lake & Shudu Lake, you'll visit the Old Town of Shangri La and the Guishan Park.
-- The word "Shangri-la" first appeared in its westernized form in James Hilton's novel The Lost Horizon. This book tells the story of three American pilots who, when flying over the Sino-Indian air route during World War II, crash-land in the midst a beautiful landscape. This place of tranquility and peace is described as having "Snow Mountains, grasslands, Tibetan people, red soil plateaus, with three rivers flowing traversing the landscape". After being rescued by the local Tibetan people, the three American pilots finally return home.
Tibetan home made at night and have dinner in Tibetan family with butter oil tea and Tibetan food.

 

Day13: Shangri La- Qiaotou- Tiger Leaping Gorge-Walnut Grove-Halfway Guest House (O/N)
Sightseeing: Qiaotou Toan, 28 Zigzagging bends trail, the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

You will depart Shangri-La early in the morning to take a 2 hours drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world's deepest gorges tucked between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountain. Arrive in Qiaotou Town, where you will start our trek along the high path of this 17-km gorge along the Yangtse River.
You will first trek two hours to Naxi Family Guest house, have a good lunch there. Then you will trek another 2-3 hours further up the steep 28-bends and reach the top of 2670m along the way. You will stay at Tea-horse Trade Guest House tonight with great view of the Yulong Snow mountain and the Gorge, hot shower, clean and comfortable rooms and delicious local food.
 
Day 14 Halfway Guest House -Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge  O/N in Lijiang
Sightseeing: Naxi Village, the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge.
This morning will be left free for a good rest and visit of the local family in the village. You will start out at noon pass waterfalls and old bridge on the way and down to middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, where less tourist and more wild and narrow.
When you arrive in Tina's Guest house, you will take a break in the guest house, and have lunch in Tina’s Guest House. Continue the trek along the road to Walnut Grove. Then the driver will pick you up in Walnut Grove and drive back to Lijiang. You will visit the First Bend of Yangtze River on the way back to Lijiang.
(Optional Trekking:Walk down to the bank of the river to sightsee waterfalls, rocks,, the most narrow part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge, Gate of Gorge(30M wide only), and the One Thread of Sky. When you walk to the bank of the river, you can choose the same way back, or you can climb the Sky Ladder up to the road, but the Sky Ladder is built along the cliff, it is vertical and dangerous. It is a challenge for you in your life. )
Explore Lijiang Old Town at night.
 

Day 15: Lijiang-Jade Dragon Snow Mountain-Lijiang   O/N in Lijiang
Sightseeing: the Yulong Snow Mountain, the Yak Meadow, Baisha Village, Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum.
Special Experience: Enjoy Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace at night.

You'll visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui(White Water) River; take the chairlift to visit the Yak Meadow(3700M) in the Yulong Snow Mountain.
--Jade Dragon Snow Mountain stretches a length of 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a width of 20 kilometers (13 miles). Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers (nine miles) away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence, the name Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The highest peak named Fan Peak (Shanzidou in Chinese) which is about 5596 meters above sea level. There are three cable cars in the mountain, the fist to the Glacier Park (4500M),the second to Spruce Meadow(3200M),the third to Yak Meadow(3700M).
In the afternoon, you'll stroll through Baisha Village, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan village; you’ll head for the scenic Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum to explore the rich Naxi minority culture.
 After dinner, you will attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace.

 

Day16: Lijiang   O/N in Lijiang
Optional Sightseeing: Shuhe Old Town, Lion Hil and Wangu Pagoda, Mu Chieftain’s Palace.
The whole day free in Lijiang Old Town, and explore the Naxi ethnic life by yourself.
(Optional Tour) Shuhe Old Town is a charming town to visit for every clients, because there is a traditional Naxi village where you can enjoy the drinking and food at the bank of the river in the farmland. You can rent a bike in Lijiang Old Town and ride to Shu about 5KM away from the Lijiang Old Town.

In the afternoon, you can visit the Wangu Pagoda on the top of the Lion Hill behind Lijiang Old Town, here you will have a wonderful panoramic view of Lijiang Old Town. You will walk down from the Lion Hill to Mu Chieftain’s Palace which is the local chieftain’s former residence.
 

Day17: Lijiang-Dali by private van  O/N in Dali
Sightseeing: Shaping Bai Ethnic market, the Three-pagoda in Chongshen Monastery, Dali Old Town
After breakfast, travel (200 km - 4 hrs) south on the old road to the ancient city of Dali, Dali, a historically and culturally famous city of China, is renowned for her historical interest. If this day happens to fall on a Monday you will call in at Shaping for a visit to the colorful Bai market.
In Dali you will visit the Three-pagoda in Chongshen Temple, which is a typical historical symbol of Yunnan. It is also one of the oldest sublime architecture in South China. At last, you will walk around the Old Dali Town, which is located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain.

 

Day18: Dali   O/N in Dali
Sightseeing: the Erhai Lake Cruise, Xizhou Town, Zhoucheng Village and Bai Tie-Dyed Cloth Work Shop.
Special Experience: Taste the Bai Three Course Tea and enjoy Bai Tea Art with ethnic dance and music.
Flight Information: 8L9962 18:40/19:30

In the morning, you’ll travel in the Erhai Lake by boat and visit Jinsuo Island. After landing, you will head for Xizhou Town to fully appreciate Bai-style architecture, taste their fragrant three-course tea and explore their distinctive culture.
At last, you will visit Zhoucheng Town, and Bai people's Tie-Dyed Cloth Work Shop.
-- --Erhai Lake is the largest highland lake next to Dianchi and one of the seven biggest fresh water lakes in China. It means, 'sea shaped like an ear', in Chinese. Implying that the lake is ear shaped and as large as a sea, hence it was so named. The lake covers an area of 250 square kilometers and is located about two kilometers east of Dali. It is like a crescent lying between Cangshan and Dali city as seen from Cangshan Mount.
Late afternoon you will take the flight to Jinghong in Xishuangbanna Prefecture.

 

Day 19:Xishuangbanna    O/N in Jinghong
Sightseeing: the Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden, Olive Basin (Gan Lan Ba).
In the morning, you will transfer to visit the Tropical Botanical Garden in Menglun, which is famous in Asia with its various plants in tropical area. On the way back, pay a visit to Olive Basin (Gan Lan Ba) where you will be impressed by the view of tropical scenery and the bamboo houses of Dai ethnic group set each other off harmoniously.

 

Day 20: Xishuangbanna   O/N in Jinghong
Sightseeing: the Wild Elephant Valley, Jinuo Ethnic group’s villages, the show of Drum of Sun.
Transfer to Sanchahe to explore the Wild Elephant Valley, which is a nature reserve for wild elephants. Take the chair lift to enjoy the overview, pay a visit to the Peacock Garden, Butterfly Garden, and Snake Garden, enjoy the Elephant show afterwards. In the afternoon, visit Jinuo Ethnic group’s villages, enjoy the show of Drum of Sun. In the evening, strolling on the Manjinglan Walking Street of ethnic group, enjoy the night view with Skew Bridge on Mekong River.

 

Day 21: Xishuangbanna –Kunming  O/N in Kunming
Sightseeing: Manfeilong Pagoda, Nanru Tea Plantation Garden

n the morning you will drive to visit Manfeilong Pagoda and Nanrushan Tea Plantation Garden.
The Manfeilong Pagoda is located on top of the mountain in Manfeilong Village in Jinhong County of Yunnan Province. The pagoda is a famous stupa group in Xishuanbanna. The white stupa looks like a white bottle gourd while the minarets look like bamboo shoots, hence the name "Bamboo Shoot Tower". Due to the white stupa, some people also called it the White Pagoda.

 

Day 22: Kunming-Stone Forest-Kunming O/N in Kunming
Sightseeing: the Stone Forest, Kunming City Tour, the Green Lake, the Golden Horse and Phoenix Archway.
Special Experience (Optional): Taste the typical Yunnan food named Bridge crossing Noodles as dinner and Yiliang Roast Duck as lunch.
You will drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: 'It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming', which vividly expresses the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder.
After lunch drive back Kunming, you will take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. Late afternoon you will visit the Flower and Bird Market.

 

Day23: Kunming-Departure 
Take the flight to Kunming and change the flight for returning.
